New Series: Making sense of the NYC Subway

L Train

(L) Line Service in Brooklyn

This time around, I have decided to not only continue the Top 5 or 10 lists, though I have Writer’s Block at the moment, I shall start a new series, which will hopefully explain certain phrases heard down in the subway, from train operators, conductors, train dispatchers, and other personnel. I will attempt to try to make sense of them, when we say these things, and even why we say them. Many people hear things in the subway that don’t necessarily make sense, mainly from those moving to New York for the first time, but when someone tells you these things, it would be helpful to understand what is going on, so that when something goes wrong, it’s not nearly as frustrating.
