Musical Interests: Travel and Road Trip Music

Transit isn’t my only interest.  There has to be something to do when I’m not riding or operating trains, something to listen to whether I am out and about, running errands, or traveling 5,000 miles away to a foreign land.  Something I can mellow out to when it’s time to chill out or excite me when I need some energy.  Music helps quite a bit.  I always carry my iPod with me when I am out and apout, but especially when I am traveling, sitting 7+ hours on a plane headed to Heathrow or 8 hours on the roads for a weekend trip to The Falls (Niagara Falls, that is).  Being that I have music from different sources and genres, I have several playlists, some are genre playlists, some are playlists for specific artists or groups.  For every song on my iPod, there’s two songs in iTunes that I like but not really worthy of transferring to the iPod.  Whatever is on the iPod is what I feel like listening to on a moderate to heavy rotation.

Let’s find out what’s on some of my road/travel/everyday music playlists:

Most of my music was downloaded from iTunes, Amazon, and various other music websites.  Much of my entire house/dance collection is from Traxsource or Beatport, while some of my Pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop was from sites like Discogs.com or MP3VA.com.  The rest are from CDs I own.  Some of my collection was discovered while listening to the radio, but many of these songs I have downloaded based on browsing YouTube videos and related videos on the site.  As long as it has a good beat, good lyrics, nice harmonies and melodies, great solos and other instrumental aspects, it goes in my collection.
